Obituary of Alfred John Pearson

March 8, 1928 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa Alfred Pearson who passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

Alfred was born and raised in Calgary and a long-time resident of Bowness.  He did electrical work at Industrial Power Tools for many years and finished his career at the University of Calgary. Jean and Alfred were married on June 21, 1952.  Alfred enjoyed bowling, yard work (especially raking the grass), woodworking, model trains, and sports, and in later years enjoyed watching his family play sports.  Alfred loved to travel many driving trips to see family in British Columbia and Jean and Alfred also enjoyed many cruises. 

Alfred is survived by his children, Brenda Smith, Jim (Brenda) Pearson, Dan (Karen) Pearson, and Gerry (Bonnie) Pearson; grandchildren, Shea Smith, Lindsay (Zane) Chmelyk, Derek Pearson, Sheena Smith (Robert Williams), Lori (Marko) Ceko, Nicole Pearson, Chantel (Travis) Vlantes, and Janna Pearson; great-grandchildren, Georgia Pearson, Liliana Pearson, and Easton Vlantes; and numerous brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

Alfred was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean in 2022, his parents Alden and Gladys Pearson, and his grandson Jesse Pearson.

We would like to thank the many years of support, from the Foothills Heart Function Clinic Staff and Dr. Kryski.  Many thanks and gratitude to the dedicated staff at AgeCare Skypointe, who cared for our dad with compassion and kindness for over five years. We would like to thank all those who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Your kindness will always be remembered.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Pearson’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
