Obituary of Sandra Ann Jeske

March 22, 1952 – Brooks, Alberta

April 16, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Sandra Jeske (nee Sporre), beloved wife of Alan Jeske, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the age of 72 years, after her twelve-year journey with early onset Alzheimer’s.

Sandra was born in  Brooks, AB, and had a carefree childhood riding horses and living the country life near Bassano, AB. As a little girl Sandra knew that she wanted to be a teacher and in later years completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. Sandra loved the many special times with students, staff, and parents during her 33-year career as a teacher and principal with the Calgary Board of Education.

Sandra and Alan were married for over 50 years and were so fortunate to have enjoyed a life filled with many wonderful experiences and happy memories. Sandra’s favourite times were spent with family and there was no greater joy than spending time with her two daughters, Jillian and Vanessa. Sandra was fortunate enough to see her daughters blossom into two beautiful and capable women and took great pleasure in welcoming four grandchildren into her family. 

Sandra loved the excitement of travel and was able to see many parts of the world including trips and cruises to China, Egypt, Greece, Southeast Asia, and Europe. RVing adventures through the prairies and western states were always a highlight. While travelling Sandra, the consummate shopper, always enjoyed searching for that one-of-a-kind treasure.

Sandra was diagnosed with early on set Alzheimer’s shortly after her retirement in 2009. A special thank you to Lorrie, her earthly angel, whose tender care extended Sandra's stay at home for more than a year. Thank you to the special staff at Providence Care Centre for their compassion, commitment, and caring over the last six years.

Left to mourn Sandra are her husband Alan, daughters, Jillian Leal and Vanessa Kotler; grandchildren, Joey, Ava, Elise, and Briggs; and her sisters, Shannon Mills (Greg) and Susan Schneider (Brennan). Sandra was predeceased by her father and mother, Gus and Renee Sporre.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Please dress Casual.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, Sandra would encourage all to give the precious gift of time by taking just a few minutes to enjoy the company of family and friends.
